A private charter simplifies the journey, but it does not replace immigration or customs requirements. Every passenger must arrive with the correct original documents for entry into The Bahamas and return to the United States.
Bahamas Immigration states that passport cards are not accepted for entry. U.S. citizens returning by air normally need a valid passport book or another document specifically accepted for international air entry.
What every traveler should verify
Document requirements depend on citizenship, residency, age, visa status, trip purpose, length of stay, and the countries through which a traveler may transit.
Passport Book
Carry the original passport book. Do not place it in checked baggage or cargo.
Validity
Use the six-month validity standard published by Bahamas Immigration unless an official authority confirms a different rule for your circumstances.
Visa Status
Some nationalities require a Bahamian visa. Any required visa must be secured before departure.
Return Documents

Flying from Florida to The Bahamas
U.S. citizens traveling by private aircraft are still international air travelers. Charter convenience does not eliminate passport, immigration, customs, or admissibility requirements.
- Carry a valid U.S. passport book. CBP states that U.S. citizens need passport books when re-entering the United States by air, subject to limited document exceptions.
- Plan for at least six months of passport validity. This follows the current public guidance of Bahamas Immigration.
- A tourist visa is generally not required for an ordinary U.S. visitor. The final period of admission is determined by Bahamas Immigration at the port of entry.
- Be prepared to show return or onward travel. Bahamas Immigration requires visitors to have a valid return ticket or other means of departing the country.
- Complete required immigration documentation. Travelers may be required to complete a Bahamas Immigration Disembarkation/Embarkation Card and provide information requested by border officials.
- Keep names consistent. Passenger information supplied to Tropic Air Charters should match the travel document exactly, including full legal name and date of birth.
Nationality and residency matter
Do not rely on requirements written only for U.S. citizens. Travelers should verify both Bahamian entry rules and the rules governing their return or onward destination.
